The University of Passau in Germany was founded in 1978 which has recently built up an IT Centre of €15 million. It exchanges programs with approximately 120 Universities worldwide. In addition to many internationally funded projects, University of Passau has been a member of several Networks of Excellence. The Forschungszentrum Jülich is the largest national German research facility with a staff of about 4400. Within the Forschungszentrum, the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC, http://www.fz-juelich.de/jsc/) operates one of the three national supercomputing centres in Germany.
